Aching Beauty

Perhaps the majority of my songs aspire to aching beauty - the poignant melodies interspersed with lyrics trying to dramatise the unattainable. So it would only be fitting to build a collection around it.

It felt like some of these songs took longer to produce than ever before. They're certainly some of the longest songs I have created. I am intending to cut that back in the future, but this was an album of indulgence, giving me confidence that some of the more difficult songs I had ever written could actually be recorded.

There are three musical interludes (#5 joy, #8 nostalgia and #12 finally) intended to break up the intensity. Even with that, I still couldn't find a way to put #14 autumn fall in the middle of the collection so it hangs on the end like a very long afterthought. .

These songs were recorded between September 2024 and October 2025.
